HVLG Gift Guide 2019

Home Decor for Every Style

December 05, 2019

Holiday-shopping season is upon us! No pressure, right?

While it's lovely to find and buy a gift for someone in an organic way throughout the year, suddenly having to get gifts for everyone within one month (if you're like most of us and haven't been carefully planning all along) can be just a bit stressful. Which results in feeling blocked and having no ideas.

Well, we're here to help.

The HVLG Gift Guide 2019 rounds up a bunch of home décor furniture, lighting, and accent staples for different sorts of folks, organized by personality and style type, and we hand it over to you all wrapped up in a bow. To make it easier, all sources are listed and linked at the end.

Happy shopping and happy wrapping! We hope you crush it.

Even the hostess with the mostest could use a little more, come the holidays, amirite? So what does one get for them?

These glamorous accents will help them dish up a delightful time over and over again. Meanwhile, Reese has plenty of ideas about Southern hospitality to share in her beautiful book.

Piemonte is a true statement-maker for dining guests, with artisanal details and a unified design that goes all the way to the canopy. The dedicated host or hostess knows it's all about mood and setting the scene; picture lights such as Vernon enhance a room's ambience greatly.

Do you have that person in your life who snaps some fresh deliciousness right out of the oven and droolworthy, putting the "feed" in your Instagram feed? Whose daily bread is anything but quotidian?

What do you get for the person who should have their own cooking show or bakery or both, who lives to bake and bakes to live?

They'll doubtless have a mixer already, but a hobnail bowl special edition? Who can say no to a new cookbook to be inspired by and master some new recipes? The kitchen is this person's domain—maybe new stools for the island or a glam cake stand and cutting set? On the humbler side, a gorgeous 70th anniversary mini bundt pan or some macaron candles to match the macarons they bake? Mitzi's Lydia flush mount is like a puff pastry for the ceiling, perfect for a walk-in pantry or above a kitchen sink, to name just a few places.

A closer look shows you all the delicious textures and topsy-turvy intrigue of Majorette

Cosmopolitanism with a collector's eye leads to an enviable space. Someone who brings home unique treasures from their travels, often specifically of their place and culture, maybe handmade, creates an interior environment that is truly one-of-a-kind over time.  What do you get for the person who's been around the world and seen it all?

Well, maybe certain sorts of décor and thoughtful gifts will make this Indiana Jones feel more at home.

Martyn Lawrence Bullard has been all over the world, and his travels inform his design. The worldly allure in his chandelier for Corbett, Hopper, makes a great choice for the dedicated world traveler. Girard, the perennial HVL floor lamp, has got some of the vintage character to add to that well-traveled flavor, transcending trends.

Hopper is available as a one- and three-light sconce, too.

Everyone knows someone who, left to their own devices, will never leave the house: the homebody, the "domestic beast."

What ornaments might delight this bower bird? What unthought-of helpful devices might make their house a better machine for living

On the one hand, there are gift boxes and unique candles and throw blankets to encourage relaxation, staying in, and dedicated me-time. The Marshall Action II Voice is a really good home speaker that works with a certain ubiquitous piece of artificial intelligence. Whether the homebody likes to curl up and read a good book or just soak in the aura of her home, nothing quite elevates a room like some special lighting. A classic table lamp can help them to refresh different spaces again and again, while a stunning ceiling fixture may just have them spending more hours on the couch or in bed just to admire its beauty.
